Milling Machine Operator

About the Role

The Milling Machine Operator's primary function is to operate the milling machine to mill existing asphalt to the proper depth prior to resurfacing. The operator must perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisory. In addition, the operator may be required to perform minor repairs to the equipment and is expected to assist in the general operation of each job site. This position consists of but not limited to the following duties:

Day-to-Day:
• Installing/removing auto electronics
• Adding/removing teeth
• Lubricating and greasing components
• Cleaning excess millings off of machine
• Checking and maintaining grade
• Operating rollers, power broom, tamps and skid steer loaders and any other equipment needed to be
operated if experienced
• Driving pick-ups, flatbed, water trucks and sand trucks
• Maintenance of all equipment and tools
• General clean up around job site
• Continually inspects machine for potential hazards or safety concerns.
• Maintains professional relationship with all co-workers and solid day-to-day communication.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and bend during long periods.

  • Must be able to climb equipment ladders to reach the operators seat

  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to climb.

  • Must be able to stand, drive and walk.

  • Thorough knowledge of milling machine/road construction asphalt process.

  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends when required.

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years experience with milling machines and road construction.
